About subsidies with František Krejčí

Interview with a consultant for sustainable and circular economy issues including subsidy management

I know that you mainly work for investors introducing modern RE technologies, as a consultant for their introduction and support. How would you assess our company's capabilities in this particular area?

As I have always been interested in environmental protection, sustainable forestry and downstream primary wood processing (I grew up in such an environment), the topic of your company is very close to my heart. The potential of the newly planned use of a brownfield site for wood processing is a good example of the introduction of renewable energy sources such as CTV panels, the construction of a boiler house for hard biomass - wood chips from the production of own waste from wood processing - with the possibility of using the heat for own production - drying of sawn timber, as well as for the examination of the installation of a combined heat and power plant for electricity generation, including the examination of the installation of a battery system for the storage of electricity. There are plenty of roofs and space on the site. In the meantime, a basic energy concept has been developed for the Břasy site, which also takes into account other technical details for efficient management of the generation and consumption of electricity and heat...

Who is Frantisek Krejci?

Not just a subsidy specialist
  • Co-founder of the Šumava National Park

  • Founder of the Královská Šumava Geopark and father of the entire project: as such, he knows all the routes in the Šumava, understands the geology, and is an expert in forests, nature conservation, and local history.

  • Specialist in subsidies and subsidy policy at www.amazonetta-energy.cz

Preparing to use subsidy titles (DT) for forestry:

  • We will attempt to use DT for forest management under the Rural Development Program in this EC PO (2021-2027), where a single application for support in the form of a subsidy is required for 5 years, with the possibility of claiming 1 ha per year, always by the end of May of the current year, initially for existing forest land and each subsequent year for newly acquired forest land. The first individual application will be submitted by May 2024.

  • A call for tenders for technical equipment (mobile technical equipment) and nursery infrastructure has been announced for March-April 2024 under the Rural Development Program OP EC (2021-2027). The call text also mentions funding for technologies and technological equipment for primary wood processing (e.g., wood storage). Support will always amount to up to 50% of eligible costs.

  • We are currently awaiting the RDP tender text. We have the program manual and are preparing the supporting documents.

Certification of forestry, timber production, timber trade, and quality management

  • - The DT will be used to prepare certification documents (e.g., FSC) to establish a system of processes that will enable the transition to certified forestry, timber production, and trade at the international level.

Employee training

  • Preparation of materials for training programs for our own employees and for future partner schools (Higher Forestry School and CTU) in the field of circular economy in the wood processing plant. In addition, an investment project for the conversion of the existing building is being prepared. We are awaiting a tender for this within the framework of the ESF programs of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs.

Potential funding options for the wood processing plant site in Břasy:

  • Acquisition of new heat and electricity sources, reduction of building energy consumption

  • Preparation of documentation (technical design study for energy production and energy savings) for submitting applications under the suspended 1st OP TAK call for proposals for the creation of a new heat source based on the combustion of hard biomass – waste from own wood production, use of heat for wood drying, electricity generation, electricity generation from CTV sources (assessment of self-consumption/feed-in to the grid), construction of an on-site electricity storage facility, and use of heat pumps for heating administrative buildings or insulated production halls. The first round of applications is expected to close by the end of January 2024, with applications expected to resume in the fall or at the turn of the year. The funding amount will be a maximum of 50% of the total operating costs. The total operating costs (ROC) of the measure are currently being prepared.

  • In addition, it will be possible to purchase DT from MIT - pr. EFEKT for entrepreneurs to create energy management for the company premises (we are awaiting the autumn call for applications).

  • Another project is currently being processed: an application for support for the company's digitalization for the purchase of hardware and software, including the implementation of a new warehouse management program, as well as the connection to the operating rooms of the "Lesy Sv. Hubert" sawmill.

  • The next project is rainwater management in the production area.

  • A study is currently being commissioned for a comprehensive rainwater management project on the site (downpipes, pipes, storage, use in technology, retention strips, etc., accompanying greenery). A grant application will be submitted later this year as part of the OP TAK tender.

We would like to introduce you to the subsidy programs we are interested in and are preparing to apply for.

The subsidy concept study is being prepared by the renowned company SWECO and includes a study on obtaining a subsidy for "green marketing" and sustainable management.

A subsidy audit is currently underway with Amazonetta Energy, s.r.o., our permanent subsidy partner.

We have received support from the NextGenerationEU fund for forestry projects in the Vysočina region

  • We recently received a grant of several hundred thousand crowns from the NextGenerationEU Fund. This grant, provided by the European Union, is part of a broader plan for the restoration and sustainable management of natural resources.

Support for Forestry and Sustainable Management

  • The NextGenerationEU Fund was established by the European Union to support projects aimed at restoration and sustainability. One of the key funding areas is forestry and forest management, with a focus on biodiversity conservation, ecosystem restoration, and sustainable management.

  • We have received funding from this program for specific projects that will strengthen forest stands in the Vysočina region. The grants will be used for planting new trees, erecting fences to protect forests, and generally for measures that will lead to the sustainable management of forest resources.
