OUR FORESTS ARE EVERYWHERE
Our forests and woodlands are real, registered in the land register, and duly paid for. We are constantly improving and expanding our forest portfolio.

WE PLANT HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF TREES PER YEAR
We plant diverse forests to avoid repeating the mistake of monocultures—unhealthy and weak forests—and we do this with the support of the state and the EU.
One of our first goals is to achieve our own forest area of approximately 600 hectares, which will provide a certain degree of self-sufficiency while also allowing some scope to implement our economic goals, focusing on environmentally friendly and sustainable management while preserving the economic aspect.
The area for forestry functions mentioned above already represents a functional complex that can be well managed without the use of additional resources, and the area in question can be enhanced in harmony with nature, either by improving the quality of the forest stand or its stability.
With our own resources and by utilizing a wide range of forestry subsidies, we can not only enhance these areas and thus the company's capital security, but we also contribute significantly to improving environmental quality in the Czech Republic and thus for all of us.
This land holding also puts us well ahead in the rankings of applicants and recipients of subsidies, enabling further investments in the acquisition or modernization of forestry technology or forestry and transport equipment. We therefore see investing in the forest as a profitable investment in our future and that of our children.
WE HAVE PLANTED HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF TREES
We are planting diverse forests so that we don't repeat the mistake of monocultures – unhealthy and weak forests – and we are doing this with the support of the state and the EU.
Forests are a very important part of the environment, and WS is interested in improving the quality and stability of forests, as mentioned above, while forest area in the Czech Republic is slightly increasing. We therefore prefer management based on the latest forestry and ecological knowledge to systems that focus primarily on harvesting and yield. Current stands only have an economic effect for the next generation, and we do everything we can to ensure this is a sound investment.

How a forest is created
A report on reforestation and forest regeneration with our forester
HOW DO YOU CREATE A FOREST?
A healthy and strong forest is a valuable source of raw materials and an important ecological feature. Most forests in Europe today do not develop naturally, but rather through systematic management by forestry professionals. How does a forest actually develop? How does a clearing or other area become a healthy stand? We asked Luboš Muchna, a forester from Wood Seeds, with whom we also looked at examples of reforestation projects on site.
People often confuse a tree nursery with a new planting. What's the difference?
"A tree nursery is not a forest. It is a space where seedlings can be grown to a certain size or age and the desired quality. These are taken from the ground and planted in a specific location or sold once they have reached the specified parameters. New seedlings are replanted in the ground or grown directly from seed.
In contrast, new plants are planted on the bare ground of the original forest to reforest the bare ground caused by intentional or accidental deforestation, e.g., by tree pests after felling, etc. In this respect, reforestation differs from afforestation (a term used for areas where no forest has yet developed). In any case, restoring such a clearing is different from nursery planting, and we can distinguish them at first glance.
